Arrow Gets a Second Season

The CW’s new hit superhero show Arrow has been renewed for a second season, set to begin airing this fall. The show follows the exploits of billionaire playboy Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) who takes aim at Starling City’s criminal underworld by night as the viglante Arrow.

It hardly comes as a surprise that the show will be renewed, as it is currently the network’s most watched program. In addition, Arrow‘s premiere back in October was the CW’s highest rated single episode.

The show has been a hit with the critics as well, recieving praise for it’s dark tone and drawing comparisons to Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight Trilogy.

CW President Mark Peodowitz was quoted saying:

We said last year that one of our goals was to establish building blocks to grow on, and now with our new hit Arrow and fan favorite Supernatural on Wednesday night, and the continued success of The Vampire Diaries on Thursday, we’ve been able to do that… Not only do [all three] perform well on-air, they’re also extremely successful for us both digitally and socially. I’m thrilled to have all three shows returning to our schedule next season.

Arrow also stars Katie Cassidy, David Ramsey, Colin Donnell, Willa Holland, Susanna Thompson, Paul Blackthorne.
