More Info On Guardians of the Galaxy

With Guardians of the Galaxy starting prep on its shoot for a August 1, 2014 release, we all knew and expected news to slowly start coming in.  With casting news coming in on Chris Pratt being the lead as Star-Lord and Jason Momoa not being Drax the Destroyer, lets look at two of the more obscure characters in the mighty line-up.

Now two of the more colorful characters in the GotG line-up are Rocket Raccoon (yes a raccoon) and Groot (a tree) can’t obviously be cast by a physical actor.  Rumors has it that Jim Carrey and Adam Sandler are circling the roles to do voiceover work, but not this is not yet confirmed.  Executive Producer, Victoria Alonzo has given some insight on how they will emulate the actions of these completely CG characters.   Here is a snippet of her talking about the process from an interview from Cinema Blend:

“We’re going to do a combination. You can’t do any motion capture with a raccoon – they won’t let you put the suit on [laughs]. But we will do rotomation, probably, for some of the behavior. Rocket will have his own personality, of course, and clearly we can’t do mocap on a tree, per say, but we definitely will have performers to emulate what James Gunn will lead to be the behavior and the performance. He’s very clear on where he wants to take the characters.”

Some small news has also come over that Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning, the two men responsible for the 2008 comic revival of GotG, have given their stamp of approval over how James Gunn is adapting the comic in a tweet that read: “Great day with @JamesGunn, thanks matey. Guardians are in safe hands! Awesome, this film will rock!

How do you feel about Guardians of the Galaxy, knowing that two of the comic book writers have given the stamp of approval?
