French actor Omar Sy has been reported as the newest addition to the cast of X-Men: Days of Future Past. Sy made a name for himself mainly as a comedian before his break-out role in the acclaimed French comedy-drama The Intouchables, in which he played a louche welfare recipient who unwillingly acquires the job of carer for a quadriplegic millionaire. He’s next scheduled for Mood Indigo, a French-language film by Michel Gondry, who also directed the 2011 adaptation of The Green Hornet.
When director Bryan Singer broke the news on Twitter, he simply commented:
Thrilled to welcome the brilliant #OmarSy from the amazing film #TheIntouchables to the cast of #Xmen #DaysofFuturePast
SuperHeroHype.com has suggested that Sy may be playing ass-kicking time traveler Bishop, member of a mutant police force from a devastated dystopian future. While Bishop was not part of the original Days of Future Past storyline, he was featured in the X-Men: The Animated Series version of the story. In any case, Sy, after Peter Dinklage, is the latest class act to sign up for the project.
X-Men: Days of Future Past is due out on July 18th next year. More news for you as and when we have it.
