TRAILER: Jay & Silent Bob’s Super Groovy Cartoon Movie

A trailer has hit the web for the triumphant return of everyone’s favorite Jersey stoners, Jay & Silent Bob’s Super Groovy Cartoon Movie.  This animated feature is based Kevin Smith’s classic characters, as well as their comic book counterparts, Bluntman & Chronic.  Interesting tidbit is that Kevin Smith himself isn’t directing it; instead, the movie is directed by Steve Stark  and was produced largely by a proudly sober Jason Mewes, who actually spearheaded this project.

For an animated movie, it had a very low budget of $69,000, which was raised by ticket sales to the podcasts Kevin Smith and Jason Mewes regularly do on stage.  It’s an exciting thing see this come to light because you don’t see many people doing stuff like this on there own.

This movie is also not getting the typical distribution treatment.  Much like Smith did with his previous film, Red State, both he and Mewes are going to take the film out on a road tour with a Q & A Podcast after each showing.  They are promising 3 hours of entertainment for one small price.

Be warned that although this is a cartoon movie, this is still a Kevin Smith cartoon movie, so it is very adult-oriented.  If you are unsure if this will be to your comedic senses check out the film Jay & Silent Bob Strike Back, Kevin Smith’s personal YouTube page, or the Bluntman & Chronic comic book.  You can also find some of the shorts from director Stark on his website, here.

The tour starts April 20 at Center Stage in Atlanta, GA and  continues well through May with venues added constantly.  To see if it will be playing in your area, take a look at the schedule here.

Are you going to be seeing Jay & Silent Bob’s Super Groovy Cartoon Movie if and when it comes to your city?
