Things are currently going as well as the might be for Bryan Singer‘s newest release, the $200 million fairytale adaptation Jack The Giant Slayer, starring X-Men: First Class‘ Nicholas Hoult. The Hollywood Reporter claims the flick could lose up to $140 million for Warner Bros., somewhere “between Universals’ Battleship and Disney’s John Carter in terms of damage.”
As for the pair’s upcoming collaboration on presequel X-Men: Days of Future Past, things look pretty rosy with Singer tweeting our first look at Nicholas Hoult’s return to the role of Hank McCoy/Beast. When we last saw McCoy in Matthew Vaughn‘s X-Men: First Class, he had transformed into the furry blue monstrosity known as Beast, previously played by Kelsey Grammar in 2009’s X-Men: The Last Stand.
Accompanying the photo is quote from Jeanne-Marie Leprince de Beaumont‘s classic Beauty and the Beast, suggesting that the upcoming film will continue to explore what McCoy’s transformation means to him, perhaps in concert with Jennifer Lawrence‘s Mystique, who shared chemistry with McCoy in the previous film and at least is able to conceal her abnormality.
X-Men: Days of Future Past is due out on July 18th, 2014. More on Beast and the rest of the cast when we have it.
