TRAILER: Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2

Fans have been demanding and Marvel is finally caving in: it’s about time footage from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 has been released internationally. While it’s certainly not as much as what was revealed during San Diego Comic Con, it’s enough to keep fans appeased if only for a little while.

The teaser trailer only clocks in at about ninety seconds but in that short amount of time, we get the all too familiar tone of the film as well as some snippets in regards to what’s to come. Probably the more interesting bits in the teaser are Yondu and Nebula’s appearances who are meant to join the team in the sequel. We see Yondu with Rocket and baby Groot on a ship with Ravagers free falling around them. Those who have spoiled themselves with the Comic Con footage already know the context of this short image but even with that knowledge, it still doesn’t clarify if Yondu has officially joined the team at this point. But rather, it seems more likely he may be joining because of this event or this is a direct cause of him to join.

Like Yondu, Nebula only makes a small appearance in the teaser with a hood being taken off her. Again, it’s unclear if she has joined the team at this point or not and the scene could be happening for a number of reasons.

For the most part, the teaser spends most of its time focusing on our four main characters from the first film with an emphasis on Peter and Gamora’s relationship. It brings back the sense of humor we’re used to with an awkward hug between Drax and Peter after Peter seemingly laments over his relationship with Gamora. It’ll be interesting to see how this relationship plays out especially with certain characters such as Nebula playing more prominent roles.

One of the interesting settings that appears throughout the teaser is some sort of jungle. Rocket, Groot, and Yondu are never shown as being present in this setting so it’s possible the group will be split up at one point. Judging from Drax carrying what looks like supplies, its possible Drax, Peter, and Gamora will be stranded in the jungle as the group tries to reunite.

Although the teaser didn’t reveal what fans may have been looking for and only scratched the surface in regards to Comic Con footage, it certainly gave us all a taste of what’s to come. We’re clearly in for a bizarre and hilarious ride much like the first film.
